The information below is provided to help you choose the right size and type of window to fit your requirements.
Window openings All window diagrams are shown as though viewed from the outside of the building.
The diagrams illustrate which windows open and how. The point of the red arrow indicates which edge of the window the hinges are mounted on.
Side openings and fanlights The width of a side opening window is 600mm - measured from the edge of the outer frame to the centre of the mullion (vertical bar).
The height of a fanlight is 370mm - measured from the top of the frame to the centre of the transom (horizontal bar).
Measuring for your windows
When measuring for your new windows please remember:
1. All sizes on this web site are in mm.
2. All our windows are manufactured to within plus or minus 2mm of the given size.
3. When you select your ‘Window Height’ this includes the cill.
4. Always measure the brickwork, NOT the existing window.
5. If the brickwork is rendered, remove the render before measuring.
6. Always measure the height and width in at least 3 places and use the SMALLEST measurement for each.
7. The opening in the brickwork must be 10mm larger than the width and height of the chosen window.
For Example: A 900mm x 900mm window will require an opening in the brickwork of 910mm x 910mm.
If you know that your opening is not square, is out of level or has protruding brickwork, always allow enough extra tolerance to make sure that your window can be fitted square, level and plumb.
